Lanark Amateur Swimming Club finished off their season when they competed at the West District Junior Championships at Grangemouth and the Senior Championships at Cumbernauld.

Ten swimmers aged from ten to thirteen represented the Club at Grangemouth. Cameron Watkins had a superb Meet. The twelve year old won two silvers (200m breaststroke and 400m I.M), two bronze medals (200m backstroke and 200m freestyle) and was fourth in the 200m butterfly and fifth in the 800m freestyle. In the same age group Lorna Gemmell was second in the 200m breaststroke and fourth in the200m butterfly and 400m IM and was sixth in the 200m I.M. Ten year old Alastair Gourlay was sixth in the 10/11 years 400m I.M. Maya Andrew and Morven McNab swam in the thirteen year old section. Maya was fourth in the 200m butterfly, fifth in the 1500m free and sixth in the 200m backstroke. Morven was fourth in the 200m breaststroke and sixth in the 1500m freestyle. Katie McIntyre, Robyn Patrick, Alyson Henderson, Euan McComish and Craig McCulloch also set new personal best times.

Nine swimmers travelled to Cumbernauld for the Senior District Meet. Victoria Gourlay won the 100m breaststroke, was second in the 200m breaststroke and third in the 200m butterfly. Ross McCafferty was the third in the 50m backstroke "skins" event. Ailsa McNab won two bronze in the 14/15 section (400m freestyle and 1500m freestyle). Jack McComish won three bronze in the 14/15 age group (200m butterfly, 100m breaststroke and 200m breaststroke). No fewer than seven Club Records were broken; Ailsa McNab, 1500m freestyle, Ross McCafferty, 200m butterfly, 200m backstroke and 100m freestyle, Jack McComish, 800m freestyle and Chris Wilson, 200m freestyle and 400m freestyle.

Last Wednesday saw the last ever competition held at Lanark Swimming Pool when the Club had their annual in house Christmas Cracker Meet. The youngsters were in fine form posting 106 new personal bests. The Club now look forward to training at the new six lane facility in Lanark but will have fond memories of the old "Baths" which produced five Scottish Champions and numerous District Championships.
