Edinburgh International - February 2010

Lanark ASC travelled for the fourth time in five weeks to Tollcross for the Edinburgh International Swim Meet. This prestigious meet was held this year in the West due to the extensive refurbishment of the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh.
The local club was represented by ten swimmers. Top performance came from twelve year old Lorna Gemmell. Lorna qualified third fastest for the 100m Breaststroke final but a tremendous effort saw her take the silver medal in a new personal best time of 1.24.06. Seventeen year old Ross McCafferty was fourth in the 200m Backstroke and sixth in the 100m Backstroke. Ross broke three club records, 100m Backstroke 1.03.74, 200m Freestyle 2.03.95, and 100m I.M. 2.19.41. Victoria Gourlay (17) was fourth in both the 100m and 200m Breaststroke. Fourteen year old Jack McComish was seventh in the 100m Breaststroke and tenth in the 200m Butterfly. Niall McLeod was tenth in the 15/16 years 100m Freestyle. New personal best times were posted by Alyson Henderson, Maya Andrew, Morven McNab, Ailsa McNab and Chris Wilson.
