Lanark Amateur Swimming Clubs' Jack McComish was swimming as a member of the Scotland Team at the Great Britain DSE Senior Open Championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield last weekend. Jack was in outstanding form winning all his seven events 100m Butterfly, 100m Breaststroke, 50m, 100m, and 400m Freestyle, 100m and 200m Individual Medley, he then added another Gold Medal to his haul when the Scottish Team won the relay event. On his way to winning those events he smashed six Great Britain Senior records, and also set three new Club records. Then to cap his outstanding performance he was delighted to be awarded the ‘Best Male Performer' Trophy. This senior award completes the double for Jack this year as he was awarded the ‘Best Male Junior Performer' Trophy in February. Jack is coached by Lanark ASC's head coach Karen Kelly who stated - Jack had an excellent weekend and should be very proud of this remarkable performance, especially now that he has moved up to senior competition after turning sixteen in August and competing against older swimmers. I am sure everyone at Lanark ASC are proud of Jack's achievements. Paul Wilson the Scottish Swimming Disability Development Officer and Team Manager who contacted the Club secretary praised Jack highly for his commitment and dedication and stated he was a perfect role model for the rest of the team, as he had the ability to motivate not only himself but the Scottish Team who finished the Meet in a creditable second place. |
